USSR-born, Israeli-raised, and an immigrant to Canada at age 10, Elena’s work pulses with a global perspective and fascination with human nature. For the last 7 years she has been working as a professional corporate and commercial video producer and director, and most recently, photographer. During this time she has lived in Vancouver, Toronto, and New York and traveled the globe to capture stories for brands, organizations, and people. She now spends time both in front and behind the camera with a quest to sharpen and add new dimensions to her creative work.
“There is a kind of moody romance between my camera and I. Although moments are undeniably best captured when they occur organically, I jump at the opportunity to add creative direction to a scene, sometimes augmenting it with a darker, more introspective vibe. My mind’s eye frames up shots everywhere I go and I’m insatiably drawn to details like colour palettes, shadows and light, clean lines, and candid expressions. I have always been artistic and my work is inspired by my love of fashion, minimalism, architecture, design, digital art and music – all of which are subtly and intrinsically woven into my aesthetic approach.”
